Book #2 is a wonderful read. How will it end? Will 'they' get back together? What new gadget will we see this time? I was on the edge of my seat as I started to read... and for the whole book! And JF Althouse, what an ending! Well done!
Finished Second Sight some time ago and read it a second time in anxious anticipation of the printing of Second Birth. The first book made me want more and when I started Second Birth, boom it was off snd running again! Love these books , just hate it when I'm finished!
I waited far too long for the second book. I was surprised that I picked up the story so easily after so long. Now I just want more, again. The references to modern circumstances and clever explanations of ancient mysteries are just great!
I don't know where to start. I just finished Second Birth and finished Second Sight a week after i received my copy. Not because it was too short or likewise, but because I couldn't put it down. And to be honest that's amazing. I hated reading and never really enjoyed it at all. But when I find a book that can grab my attention and make me feel that I am immersed in the story, I'm hooked. And both of these books do that! You won't wanna put them down.
I just finished Second Sight and like the other reviewers I could not put it down. The author creates a world combining history and mythology. Hated to see the book end and cannot wait for the next installment.

Just finished reading Second Birth and Second Sight for the "second" time. These readings were as good or better than the first time. I couldn't believe how much more there was to appreciate. I would highly recommend these books to anyone who enjoys a well developed story and characters.

I couldn't wait for Second Birth to come out after having read Second Sight. It took a while for it to be completed, so I read Second Sight again (because it was great). Second Birth is just as fantastic. The characters are engaging and... just cool. They're characters that you end up caring about and really want to know what happens to them. Just like the first book, the sequel has fancy technology mixed with intriguing theories about past cultures on earth and how they relate to modern culture. I hope the next book doesn't take as long to come out as this one - I want to know what happens next.
I'm basking in the afterglow of completing the final pages of J F Althouse's novel "Second Birth".
In scouring my bookshelves and memory, I can't find another novel that I've enjoyed this much!
Having read Techno-Thriller novels since Tom Clancy's "Hunt for Red October" came out, and also action/adventure/fantasy novels typified by the Clive Cussler "Dirk Pitt" series, I submit to you that Mr. Althouse's work deserves to be considered on the same world stage with the writing of those two gentlemen.
Althouse writes on a large canvas, and pulls from a palette that is fresh, intelligent and creative.
He has created inspiring characters that you will care for, worry about and cheer on.
He has created a world history that is rare and unique, and possibly in some ways more accurate than the world history that we've been taught.
He has created a bold adventure that is every bit as awesome as those of Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" and "Hobbit".
If you are looking for a wonderful adventure, I encourage you to read "Second Birth" but first read it's predecessor "Second Sight". I was delighted with them!
